Business:
I believe,
as a small business owner, that to see our
community grow, we must make it easier,
not harder, for small businesses to succeed.
Communication
and Cooperation:
My goal is to
see that the three entities, Washoe County
and the cities of Reno and Sparks work together
more cooperatively in planning the future
of the Truckee Meadows.
Consolidation:
I am not in
favor of government consolidation. I do,
however, believe that cooperation in the
provision of some services may be good.
Crime:
We must do whatever
it takes! By committing a crime, criminals
voluntarily forfeit their rights.
North Valleys:
It is time
that elected officials look at the North
Valleys with the perspective that growth
is inevitable, and that the planning of
infrastructure and services must be culminated
for the future of these valleys.
Parks:
As former Chairman
of the Friends of the North Valleys Regional
Sports Complex, I realize that parks are
a wonderful asset and resource for any community.
We should plan for the essentials. Can we
staff the park? Can we maintain the park
efficiently? Do we have the water and other
necessary resources to keep the park in
good condition and attractive to the users?
If we cannot offer one of these resources,
then we must take another look at whether
the park is feasible. Surrounding communities
should be included in all planned projects
for a park. This will help to create a sense
of ownership in our parks.
Regional
Plan:
The Regional
Plan is too complex. Unfortunately, most
people don't understand it. It should be
simplified and summarized to be more easily
comprehended.
Seniors:
Seniors possess
a wealth of knowledge. We need to utilize
this knowledge for the betterment of the
Truckee Meadows and planning for our future.
We must encourage seniors to participate
in our communities.
Taxes:
I strongly
support the right of voters to have their
say in any tax increase. I am not in favor
of new taxes, or even raising the old ones.
Water:
Water is an
unlimited resource, but affordable water
is not. We must seek new sources and plan
for the next 50 or more years. We should
not out build our water.
